June 20, 2011- Fort Wayne, IN: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences announced that WANE has won the Emmy Award for Best Newscast.

June 20, 2011- Indianapolis, IN: The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ Lower Great Lakes Chapter has awarded WISH-TV’s 24-Hour News 8 and MyINDY-TV with eight (8) EMMY Awards for outstanding achievement during 2010. This includes even more honors for WISH-TV’s most watched newscasts, Daybreak and 11PM. EMMY Awards received by WISH-TV and MyINDY-TV included two for Best Newscast, Investigative Report, Best Anchor and Special Event Coverage.

WAVY-TV 10 RECEIVES TOP HONORS AT THE 53rd ANNUAL EMMY AWARDS AND 74th ANNUAL VAB AWARDS
June 27, 2011- Portsmouth, VA: The station On Your Side won four Emmy awards at the 53rd Annual National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences’ National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter Emmy Awards. WAVY-TV 10 was also a winner at the 74th Annual Virginia Association Broadcasting Awards.
“I am proud to work with such a professional group of broadcasters and am pleased their hard work and creativity have been recognized,” said WAVY/WVBT President and General Manager Doug Davis.
WAVY-TV 10 received four Emmy awards out of several nominations. Photojournalist Matthew Mrozinski was the night’s big winner, taking home three awards. Mrozinski won an Emmy in the category Weather – News Single Story with Photojournalist Aaron Kurtz for their work on “Reliving Earl”. Mrozinski and Producer/Writer Oren Liebermann won an Emmy in the Sports-News Feature category with “America at its Finest”. Mrozinksi also won in the Photographer – News Within 24 Hours category. Graphic Design Director Ashish Banthia won an Emmy for his Graphic Composite submission in the Graphics category.
The Academy’s Emmy Award is the industry’s benchmark for the recognition of television excellence. WAVY-TV 10 is proud to be among those recognized for exemplifying superior news programming in Hampton Roads.

Promotions Producer Eric Pyburn received recognition in the Best Station Promotion category at the VAB Awards. Pyburn’s award-winning spot showcased the station’s commitment to the 10 On Your Side brand in the community.
The annual Virginia Association of Broadcasters Station Awards Program recognizes outstanding achievement by Virginia radio and television broadcasters. This competition was established to encourage the highest standards of reporting, community service and production creativity. It is the ultimate prize–peer recognition for the Virginia broadcast industry.
WAVY-TV 10 WINS TWO REGIONAL MURROW AWARDS
April 25, 2011-Portsmouth, VA: WAVY-TV 10 is the proud recipient of two prestigious 2011 Regional Television Digital News Association Edward R. Murrow Awards. The top honors were awarded to WAVY-TV 10 Reporters Andy Fox and Jason Marks for their compelling journalistic efforts.
Andy Fox took home the award in the Video Reporting: Hard News category for “The Meat is in the Van”. In this report, Fox tracked down restaurant delivery men caught violating Virginia Health Department “cold chain” regulations.
“Edward R. Murrow remains the standard in what we do. He has stood the test of time. I cannot begin to tell you what it means to me personally and professionally to have my name attached to with Edward R. Murrow. I am humbled and I am blessed,” said WAVY-TV 10 Reporter Andy Fox.
Jason Marks won in the Video Feature Reporting category for his “Bucket List Mechanic”. In this heartfelt story, Marks profiled a 75-year-old man who fulfilled his life-long dream of working as an auto mechanic.
“This is a great honor and very much an unexpected one. It just shows how much you can accomplish with team work,” said WAVY-TV 10 Reporter Jason Marks.
