Digital Media Political Producer

LIN Media is looking for a Digital Media Political Producer to further our transition from broadcast to multi-platform journalism through the creation/editing of original political content beyond that which is produced for on–air.

The Digital Media Political Producer should be the newsroom example for the creation of digital content and its marketing; should provide training in methods, processes and tactics. The DMPP is charged with managing the daily editorial operations of the LIN political microsites.

Job candidates must be well-versed in all things political, from town hall to Capitol Hill, and be able to translate that knowledge to a digital format.

Responsibilities: This individual will produce political content, including stories, videos and images across all LIN sites. The DMPP will also be responsible for building interactives that extend the narrative of the nationally and locally focused content he/she produces. These will use existing frameworks LIN has developed. Must be able to learn many Web-based programs; have excellent communication and writing skills; be creative and accurate and possess a can-do attitude. In addition to the DMPP's political responsibilities, he/she will also publish national, sports or entertainment content to support the LIN station group.

Qualifications: Knowledge of nonlinear editing, Flash and Photoshop helpful as well as data entry skills and some HTML knowledge and previous work in content management systems.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

The Manager of Business Application Systems provides forward-thinking leadership and expertise in the management of our critical corporate business application systems and technology. Reporting directly to the Manager of Corporate IT, the Manager of Business Application Systems will have hands-on responsibility for the development and maintenance of our business application systems. The position will be based in our Providence, RI corporate headquarters.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the definition of business and systems requirements for new technology initiatives.
  • Manage the development and implementation of business application systems, driving cross-functional participation/coordination, and leveraging external resources.
  • Manage projects from inception to completion with accountability for successful implementation and meeting financial goals.
  • Participate in various operational planning processes: development of annual operating and capital budgets, and business case justifications for initiatives.
  • Drive business technology assessments.
  • Support the development and implementation of business continuity strategies.

Requirements/Skills:

  • 5+ years of managing the life cycle of a portfolio of business application systems.
  • Must have strong verbal skills with the ability to communicate ideas and solutions to non-technical staff.
  • Demonstrated strength in judgment, decision-making, and ability to achieve results by leveraging internal and external resources.
  • Contemporary knowledge of IT best practices; ability to exploit technology to enable productivity and collaboration.
  • Ability to work and effectively prioritize in a highly dynamic work environment.
  • Strong conceptual, analytical, judgment and communication abilities.
  • Possess the relationship skills, cultural awareness, and organizational prowess required to work effectively in a fast changing, dynamic organization.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or a significant systems integration consulting experience.
  • Ability to travel domestically – up to 20%.
  • Technology or media industry experience preferred. Knowledge of broadcast traffic systems a plus.
